New Cake

Ok so my friend Stephanie asked me if I would make her son a cake for his birthday. He wanted Bakugan. I don't know anything about this except little balls that turn in to dragons, and he wanted the red one.
So I looked on line to get some ideas, and this was what I came up with it was a mixture between two cakes. I was so excited/nervous to do a ball cake. (Robbie was happy I got the ball pan so now he can have a death star cake).
So everything was normal until the ball, I have no idea how to cover a ball with fondant, mine (I should have taken pictures) looked like a lopsided Jupiter, I hated it. I ripped off the fondant and said they don't get a ball. Robbie was like yes they do. So he rolled out the fondant and covered the ball for me, it took him an hour and a half to cover and paint the ball. (Seriously where did I get him??? How many husbands do you know who would spend 1 1/2 hours covering a cake and decorating it for his wife's friend's son???? I'm so blessed. )
So this is final result.
We decided to do fire between the layers to cover the seams (instead of balls or ruffles or whatever) The top where the ball connects I had already put the frosting away so it's not as good as the other layers. Overall it was a fun cake to do and very challenging. I need to learn how to cover a ball in fondant, I told Robbie next time I do a round cake I'm just covering it in frosting.
We did my favorite chocolate cake with chocolate chips, and then cream cheese frosting with oreo's crushed into it. I didn't eat it but Elijah said it was good. So I hope they liked it.
Here is the back. Yes my husband painted all the gold on the cake, seriously.

I have no idea what the dragon thing is all about, but the cake looks pretty darn good...can't believe Robby actually helped you with that...good job...I have not even covered a ball with fondant...and am not sure I would want to. I'll stick with the wedding cakes, thank you.
