Crazy week

So this week was crazy, I don't even remember most of the days, but I guess that is what my blog is for, to help me remember what I do.
Oh that's right Monday, I watched my friend's daughter, she is such a sweet girl and we love having her here. So it was a fun day and my kids haven't had friends over since we went to UT since I was busy packing and then when we got back,I was busy unpacking. So they had a lot of fun.
Then Tuesday I finished painting the living room and the bathroom, and started hanging stuff back up. Oh and Tuesday I repainted the coffee table and the end tables, just to touch them up and make them look better, we also went to the library and the grocery store. Then over to my friend Sandy's house to make these aprons that we are making for Chit Chat and I wanted to practice and do one so I knew what to tell the girls who are making them (I still don't really know so if you are coming but I hope you know what you are doing) So we worked on the aprons for about 6 hours and still didn't finish one!!!
Then Wed. my friend Kelsey came over and we made a cake for my friend Julie (it's Kelsey's mother in law)
We both wanted to learn to work with fondant, and so we figured this would be the perfect time to do it. Julie wouldn't care if it wasn't perfect, which it wasn't the bottom was wrinkly, we should have trimmed the cake and I think the fondant was either too thick or we didn't pull it down far enough because it was bunching up at the bottom, and the longer it went the bunchier it went. Kelsey drove it to Julie's right after making it but Julie's house is an hour away and she called me and said it's getting bunchier so I was like drive faster. It was a chocolate pound cake with a chocolate custard filling with buttercream frosting. I hope it tasted good. Working with the fondant was super fun and easier than I had expected, I can't wait to do it again. Unfortunately Kylie wants a super easy cake and hated the fondant and said she didn't want it on her cake. I ended up buying the fondant because I was already stressed out enough about working with it and I didn't want to have to worry about making it and it not working out and whatever, I just thought it would be easier to buy it and worry about making it later.

Then today Sandy came over to my house so we could finish the aprons, she was here for 8 hours but we finished them!!! All three of them, I didn't get a picture of hers but here are the two that I made.
This one is mine!!! Here is the front side!!! It's totally me, black, white and red!!! I love it.

Here is the back side they are reversible. Sorry about the hair and lack of make up, I was too busy today to take a shower.

This is the other one, I'm giving it to my friend Jen, since for her birthday I just gave her a game from our game closet ( the game she loved playing and it's been discontinued so it wasn't just a random gift but I felt bad that it was a hand me down) and she helped pick out the fabric, This is really the back of it.

And then this is the front of it!!! Super cute huh???
These are the same ones you can buy for $60.00 which I think is crazy but it did take forever to make and each apron cost about 26.00 just for materials, so I can see why they charge that much.
I think I am burnt out of crafting and things like that for a while I think I might just sit on the couch and watch tv and read books, for the next week.

Cute cake and cute aprons! You're so creative. I love the colors on the cake. Fondant will become easier to work with the more you practice with it. I have always thought the fondant that you buy is pretty nasty tasting, so I prefer to make my own marshmallow fondant, and you can also add any flavor you want to it. It's easy to make, just a little messy. I have just tweaked my fondant recipe a little recently. I will be posting that in my blog soon, so stay tuned.
