Trip to UT, 4th of July and my Grandma's 80th birthday

This is going to be a long post so get yourself a drink and a snack and enjoy.

This is a pic of Kylie and Porter some time last week. He loves to give hugs and he just walked over to Kylie and gave her one. It was so cute.

This was dinner last week. It was sun dried tomato pasta salad (pioneer woman) and ham and cheese pannini (martha stewart) it was really good. Even I liked the pasta salad.

We left to UT on Thursday morning. Our plan was to leave at 5am, I got up at 4:15 and showered and got ready then Robbie woke up at 4:45 and decided to shower, so we didn't even get out of the door until 5:15am, then we needed water and air in the tires and bla bla bla, so we didn't get on the road until almost 6am.

This is the kids at the first part of the trip. So happy and not annoying each other, this was not how they looked 13 hours later.

Going over the Hoover Dam. The kids got a kick out of this. They really liked it.

They are building a bridge to bypass the dam, it was almost done and it was so high. I would be scared to drive on it.

Porter driving, he was happy, notice he was eating cheese it's. Whatever keeps him happy.

Mia with her ducky.

Kylie!!!! She was doing good and still happy.

Elijah!! He was eating snacks too.

my turn to drive. Robbie drove to Vegas then it was my turn.

The mountains before St. George. The kids loved the canyon, and the red rocks.

This is the exit I used to take when I went to Snow College. I wanted to show the kids.

I saw this house and I was like Robbie buy that house for me. I love it, and it has a barn for me to have parties in. I so want a barn so I can have all my parties in it, so I don't have to clean my house.
After 13 hours of driving we finally reached Megan's house. Thanks you so much Megan for letting us crash at your house. You are so awesome. I really appreciate it. Porter hanging out.

Here is Elijah, she had this play dough and the kids just loved playing with it.

Mia.

Oh and she had this mini Trampoline that the kids loved playing on. Even Porter had fun playing on it.

Megan and Elijah hanging out watching TV. We hung out and talked until way late into the night, but it was fun to catch up and hang out and talk. It was just like old times. She had an air mattress for us to sleep on and it had a hole in it but she taped it up, but after 15 mins we were pretty much on the floor. And we were going to borrow a pack and play for Porter to sleep in but we didn't get it, so he was up all night walking around finally he collapsed on the floor next to the suit case.
The next day we called my sister Marlise and I had all these places I wanted to go, so I was joking around and I said hey will you watch Porter while we run around, so he could take a nap. Surprisingly she said yes and so we went to her house. I didn't know her husband was off that day so he suggested that I leave the kids and Robbie there and just go by myself. He even let me use his car. The kids had fun going to the park and going somewhere to feed horses and goats. Mia especially loved it. I took Kylie with me and we went to the DI to buy Porter onesies, and then the Distribution Center to get more garments. I have 8 pair now!!!!!!! Then we went to Hobby Lobby and I got extenders for my Grandma's album. Then I picked up Corinne and Michelle, (my two sisters) and we went to Tie Pan and walked around. I bought some canvas bins, that were 3.95 each, buy one get one free. so what that's like less than 2.00 each. I got 8 so the kids can organize the toys in their rooms. I also bought this super cute bag to put my grandma's album in. After that we went to lunch with Robbie and the kids, and Nate and Marlise and their kids, and Michelle and Corinne. We went to this pizza place that the kids were free, well Porter and Cara Mia and Elijah were. Kylie and Robbie and I were 5.99 each and it was all you can eat. I think it's called Santa Monica pizzeria. It was really good too.
After that we went to my friend Cheri's house. She has 4 kids too and our kids just loved each other. They had so much fun playing with each other.
And I loved visiting with her and her husband.

This time I got a picture of us together. She looks just like she did in High School.
and they might come and visit us in Nov. which would be awesome and we would go to a Football game.
Then after that we went to my grandma's surprise party. We got there a little bit early to help set up. She was so surprised when she got there. And when she saw Elijah, she was like what are you doing here. And when she saw me, she was like you drove all the way up here just for this, you are in so much trouble, I'm gonna spank your bottom. I was so happy that we were able to go.

Here we are together. Doesn't she look amazing!!!! I can't believe she is 80.

Mia, on the table in the back, is the awesome bag I got at Tie Pan. Mia was nervous there were dogs there and she is a little scared of dogs.

KC and Marlise's kids were sleeping, my kids never sleep. I wish.

This park was nice and big, but the toys were really far from the pavilion, it had these big boulders that the kids loved to climb on and play on, I obviously was not over there for this, Robbie was watching the kids.

Corinne and Hil, they are cousins and about the same age and I think they hadn't' seen each other in a long time.

My sister Michelle with Porter.

Me and Connie, we were reading this poem Kylie had written for my grandma.

Corinne, KC, Colleen, Kate, and Hil.

Corinne and Mia and Hil.

My Aunt Carol and my brother KC.

Here is my grandma's cake. It was so pretty and huge, I joked around that we didn't have enough and we needed another one, This thing was so big, we had half of it left over.

Isn't she so cute!!! I love my grandma!!!!

Blowing out her candles.
Opening her presents.

Opening her scrapbook from us.

She loved it, it made her cry, which of course was the point, not to be mean but to show her how much I love her and how special she is to me.

My sister Corinne got her lotion from Bath and Body Works, she was suprised, she loves Bath and Body works.

My sister Megan and her kids, My grandma, her husband Loyal and my Uncle Ron. Corinne and Michelle are in the background.

More and more people were gathering for pictures, Again Michelle and Corinne in the background. Then it was Megan's little boy Chandler, Megan, My grandma, Loyal, my Uncle Ron and my sister Marlise.

More people, Uncle Ron, my sis Corinne, my sis Michelle, My grandma, my sis Marlise, Loyal, Me and My sis Monica.

Uncle Ron, Corinne, Michelle, My cousin Stacy (front) My grandma, Marlise (front) Loyal, Nate (back row), Megan (front), Me, Monica
This was the whole family, who was there, at least on my grandma's side. Kinda a family reunion.
My cousin Shannon wasn't there and my brother Peter wasn't there.

After that KC had volunteered to watch my kids so Robbie and I could go on a date. We decided to go to dinner with my uncle and Aunt, my grandparents, my cousin Stacy and her husband Brian. We went to Texas Roadhouse it was fun. After that we were going to go to see Transformers but it was getting late so we just went and picked up the kids. They fell asleep in the car on the way back to Megan's. Here they are asleep, so cute. Oh and Megan had felt so bad that we slept on the floor, she went and bought a double layer air mattress for us to sleep on. She is so nice, and didn't have to do it but we appreciated it a lot.

Oh when we dropped the kids off at KC's house, Robbie had given Porter a cup with a straw in it with Sprite in it and Porter dumped it all over him, so KC and Colleen let us borrow some of Kate's PJ's. They were girly but he looked so stinkin' cute in them.

The next morning we went out to eat with my uncle and aunt and my grandparents and Stacy and Brian, we went to Jerimiah's. It was really good and it was very cute, like very outdoorsie.
Kylie is standing infront of a ski coat rack. I bought the girls matching dresses, Robbie was so mad, because they didn't have shoulders. I thought they were cute and so did everyone else.

Everyone waiting for our table, when you need a table for 13, you have to wait awhile.
One of the hostess offered to take a family picture of us.

Mia waiting.

Cara Mia with her grandma!!!!!

Porter, he loved all the extra attention, he was totally hamming it up.

My aunt Connie showing Kylie pictures of horses in Jackson Hole.

Elijah with Grandma!!!
After breakfast we went to my mom's grave, the kids had never seen it and Robbie haden't either. It was nice to go with everyone, we talked about her and didn't cry at all. It was very upbeat, which is what I think she would have wanted.
After that we went and packed up our stuff at Megan's house. My uncle was so nice and got us a room at the Sheraton (where they were staying in SLC). So we could just wake up early and get on the road. Oh those beds were so nice and the rooms were too. Even Mia said mommy this is a nice hotel huh? and they have been playing hotel ever since. Too bad we couldn't have stayed longer to enjoy it.
After packing up, we met Stacy and Brian and my Uncle and Aunt at this fish farm to catch some trout for dinner that night. I totally didn't want to do it, but Robbie did and Kylie and Elijah really did so we went.

Kylie caught her first fish!!! It was a rainbow trout.

Then Elijah caught his first fish!!!! It was a rainbow trout too.

After that the kids fed the fish. They really liked doing this. Thanks Stacy and Brian for buying the fish food.

All three of them feeding the fish.
My aunt took my picture with my kids.
After that the kids and Robbie went to go look at the big fish, Connie helped Porter feed the fish.
It was so nice to have Connie and Uncle Ron around and to spend time with them. I forgot that they are grandparents too now and it was so cute to see them play with the kids, Connie totally stepped in and kinda played grandma with Porter, which is nice because the only grandma he has is my grandma, so his great grandma.

After fishing we went up to Brigham to my cousin Stacy's house. She did a BBQ, I should have taken a pic of the table there was so much food, hot dogs, hamburgers, beer brats, trout, chips, veggies, corn, oh my goodness, I could go on and on. After that we did fireworks in the front yard. My kids have never seen the little fireworks, since they are against the law here, they loved them.

Cousins watching fireworks.

I think the smoke was bugging her eyes.

At first Porter was scared of them but he started to like them too. He would clap after they were over.

Then he would put his arms in the air and say yeah!!
After that we did sparklers, since my kids have never done them before. I totally had talked to them about how they are hot and you can get burnt and don't stand by anyone, I had them so scared that they just held them away from their bodies and stood there.

After that we drove to SLC, we watched fireworks while we were driving, the kids fell asleep so they didn't really see any. We checked in to the hotel and then crashed, woke up early the next morning and hit the road. We stopped in Beaver to get some sweeky cheese, I love it and remember it from growing up. T
Then since I didn't get to go to any of the restraunts I wanted to go to in Ogden I told Robbie that I wanted to get Cafe Rio for lunch, he had never had it, just the stuff i make at home, so we stopped in St. George for gas and Cafe Rio, we stopped at Sinclair and of course the kids had to get pics taken on the dinosaur.

It was funny because as we were driving away another family had pulled up and were taking pictures on the dino too.
After that we just drove and drove and drove, we left SLC at 7am and didn't get home until 8pm. It was a very very very long drive. I think if we ever do it again we will split it into two days, it's just too long to do in one day.
While I'm so happy we went on this trip and had the opportunity to see my family and hang out with them, it also reminded me why I moved away and while I love my family sometimes less is more, most of it probably is because of me, but when you get that many people with strong personalities together without a real plan, everyone comes up with their own and if it doesn't go their way they get upset. I had fun but it was also nice to come home and relax.

You're right...that WAS a long post. Looks like you had a fun trip and your grandma looks like such a cute and fun lady. I would love to meet her sometime. I'm glad you could go someplace and get out of the heat for awhile.
