I know it's a quote from Star Wars but I think it applies to our nation today. Last night watching the news I was broken hearted to watch our country make one of the biggest mistakes in history.
There are other leaders who were good public speakers and who people followed blindly such as,
Castro: President of the Council of State. He also held the supreme military rank of Commander in Chief and led the transformation of Cuba into a one-party socialist republic.
When he took power it was said that "the scene as one of jubilant crowds pouring into the streets and automobile horns honking. The black and red flag waved on automobiles and buildings."
Does that remind you of last night in Chicago???
So this is how liberty dies... With thunderous applause.
(Yes, another one from Star Wars episode III (Robbie made me put that in), can you tell who I'm married to?) But both of us when we were watching the news last night thought it was ironic how it seemed just like the movie)
Adolf Hitler: He was elected !!!! He gained support by promoting nationalism, with charismatic oratory and propaganda. He restructured the economy in Germany where people were looking for a hero to get them out of the Great Depression in Germany. (Sound familiar??)
Anyway, I am just disgusted with the American people right now and how they are so blinded by a man that we know nothing about. Even smart people are just in awe of the man.
In Stake Conference on Sunday Pres. Packer said that things were going to change and that we should not fear. So I am praying for peace in my heart and that Heavenly Father watches over my family. After all I did not vote this yahoo into power. I would rather have anyone...even Hillary in office than him. Who knows what his agenda is? He says what people want to hear and apparently they want the government to spread the wealth around, we need to take care of each other. I am completely for helping others but it should be my choice and the government shouldn't do it for me. And people should work or at least attempt to work. Most of my single life I worked two jobs to make ends meet. I never really considered myself a democrat or a republican but after this election I put myself on the Republican side. Where you work hard and take care of yourself. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life."
Ok, I'm off my soapbox now but I'm just very disheartened right now, and I hope he doesn't do too much damage in the next 4 years.

I just came upon your web site through the cutest blog and I couldn't agree with you more. I put myself through college working nights and weekends and have never taken a handout from anyone and the majority of people in this nation can do the same if they work at it!! The fall of this nation will be do the moral decay and lack of principles in this country. I cannot possibly understand the mind of someone who voted for Obama. All we can do is pray that God will answer our prayers and get this nation back on track.
I too am scared for my family and for this nation. How could we put someone in who doesn't have a strong work foundation!! What scares me the most is how uneducated poeple are about who they are voting for. Just because someone is democrat or republican, that doesn't mean we don't learn more about the canidate!! Such fools we are, too not learn more, to not be active in our future. Poor generations to come!! All I can do is vote and be active and to teach my children to do the same! I couldn't even watch the news Tuesday because in my heart I knew what would happen... Fools...
Tiffany, I too am frustrated about the whole thing. My biggest concern is that he is such a mystery...nobody really knows much about him at all...and that scares me a lot. If you haven't had a chance to read my take on the whole thing, make sure you take time to read my blog post. Hugs to you and Robbie and the family, Cathy
Amen to that Tiffany!!! Amen
Politics are a funny thing. One side always thinks the other side is made up of "fools". The problems we have in this great nation have nothing to do with who was just elected. They came from mistakes made in the past.
I am a registered Republican, a conservative, an active Christian--and yet, I voted for Obama. (gasp!) Let me just say, my decision was not made lightly. I read and researched. I REFUSED to believe the gossipy hearsay that went around in all the email forwards. I researched out the truth. I talked to ALOT of people I admire who were attorneys, bishops, economists, etc.
I know most who have posted on your blog will not agree with me--but I do not have to apologize for my decision. Our country will be in good, intelligent hands. He may not thinnk exactly like you, but he is an honorable man. I don't think we need to be "scared"--we just need to do what we have always done--pray for our leaders.
