Elijah's 1st soccer game

Yesterday was Elijah's 1st soccer practice and game. He had practice at 10 am and then his game at 3:30pm.
He didn't really have any idea of what to do. At the practice he kept trying to pick up the ball. And he asked to be the blocker (which he meant the goalie) because that was the only person to pick up the ball.
They don't have goalies in this soccer.
But he got the hang of it.
At his game that day he didn't pick up the ball once. We have two older boys on our team and without them I don't think we would have had a game. They at least had the ball going in the right direction. Elijah forgot when they changed the goals in the middle of the game he kept goinng toward the wrong goal.
I asked him if he liked it and he said he loved it. I asked if he liked it better than hockey and he said yes. I said "oh that makes me sad" then he said I like hockey too. But I don't blame him soccer is easier, you don't have to learn how to skate.
He did biff it once durring the game he got a face full of grass but he didn't cry and he got right back out there. What a big boy!!!
