What's up with Cara Mia.

Well Cara Mia had reflux http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/tc/vesicoureteral-reflux-vur-topic-overview like Kylie did (or does or whatever) and Monday we went to the Pediatric Urologist to talk to them about it. Cara Mia has had 3 UTI's since Oct. so we had a VCUG http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/cystourethrogram-16691 done and they said she had stage 2. (Kylie's was stage 4) (it's kinda cute and kinda sad. I told her we were going to the dr and she said the hospital or the dr, I said the dr and she said ok I like the dr but the hospital hurt me. Because they had to do a catheter, so sweet and kinda sad) and we have two choices put her on prophylactic antibiotics for a year and then have another VCUG in a year to see if it fixed it's self, or we can have Deflux http://www.deflux.com/ injected into her her ureters to see if that can stop the flow back up into her kidneys. Well I said whatever you think is best and they said we should try the Deflux and maybe fix the problem right now instead of having her on antibiotics for a year. (with Kylie she had Deflux done twice and it fixed her left side but not her right side so we had to have the reimplantation surgery done with her and we haven't had any UTI's for over a year now!!!!!!)

So Cara Mia is scheduled for her surgery for Feb 11. This surgery is endoscopic they go up through her bladder and it's only 45 mins and she gets to go home about an hour after she wakes up. There is no recovery time. And he said with stage 2 chances that it will fix it are 90%. So hopefully it will work. Since we already went through it with Kylie we found Cara Mia's a lot sooner. They both started showing symptoms 3 months before they turned 3 years old and since we didn't know what was going on with Kylie she would have a UTI we would take her to the dr they would put her on her meds and then as soon as she got off them she would get another one. So we didn't even see the urologist until she was 4 and it usually fixes itself if it is going to fix itself by 4. so we did deflux it worked on one side then we did it again and it didn't work again so we did reimplantation. So she is only three and that is the hard decision do we just wait and see or do be proactive and try to fix it. Kylie was on antibiotics for 3 years and I really didn't want to do that again. That is why we are doing the surgery.

Yeah I would probably go for the injections too. I would hate doing antibiotics. But I know it's so hard when the dr puts a choice in front of you. Sometimes I have asked dr's,"If this was your kid, what would you do?"

BTW I know it was like a few posts ago but I love LOVE your pics!!! My friend is doing our pics when it is warmer and I might just show her your pics if thats ok???? They are so awesome!!!
